Dale W. Dobbs, 64, of Loysville went to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. Dale was born Aug. 9, 1948 at Carlisle to the late Dale E. Dobbs and Gertie I. (Murphy) Dobbs of Loysville.
He was a Army Reservist for seven years. He was a 1966 graduate of West Perry High School; attended HACC, Harrisburg and attended Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC. He was a member of the Susquehanna U. M. Conference.
Until his illness, he was Pastor at McVeytown United Methodist Parrish. He also pastored at the Blain and New Germantown United Methodist Churches and the Greater Shawville Parrish. He also had been employed at Ralston Purina. Dale started his work in the automobile industry as parts manager at the former Sheaffer-Weary Chevrolet in Loysville and then other dealerships throughout Central Pennsylvania.
He was a member of the State College District Ministerium, McVeytown Fire and Ambulance Associations and McVeytown Ministerium.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife with 42 years of marriage, Jane E. (Smith) Dobbs; a daughter, Jayme E. (Dobbs) Casner (and her husband, David) of Loysville; four siblings, Robert E. Dobbs, Gary J. Dobbs, both of Newport, David G. Dobbs, of New Bloomfield, and Elizabeth L. Weibley of Statesville, NC; his father-in-law, Wendel Smith of Loysville; and two grandchildren, Tarryn Elizabeth Casner and Katelyn Irene Casner.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 21 at Perry Mennonite Reception Center, 350 Green Park Rd., Elliottsburg, PA 17024. Viewing will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the Reception Center. Burial with military honors by New Bloomfield VFW and Newport VFW will be in the Blain Cemetery.
Fellowship will follow the burial in the Perry Mennonite Reception Center.
There will be an additional memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 29 at McVeytown United Methodist Church.
