David Herr Obituary
Having spent 75 years as a part of God's creation, Dave's life happened along the way.
The most unexpected encounter was meeting his best friend and companion in life, at the Newville bowling alley, his Becky. They have been married for 54 years.
Together, they moved to San Antonio, Texas, where Dave was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army.
Dave treasured his daughters, Brittni and Karly, and their husbands, Kelly and Adam, whom he called his sons.
Three of his greatest joys were his grandsons, Jacoby, Jesse, and Levi. His three boys call him Pop Pop. They spent many days together joking around, storytelling, and just "be-laxing".
Dave also has two sisters, his younger sister, Kathy, and his older sister, Barb.
Dave worked for Kinney Shoe Corporation for 28 years, where he was an engineer and head of Product and Development. During this time, he was able to travel the world to places he never thought possible.
Although Dave had success in his vocation as an engineer, his passion was to serve Jesus.
In 1983, Dave received his diploma in Pastoral Theology from the Evangelical Church Alliance. He was then ordained in 1984.
Subsequently, he received his Master of Practical Ministry from Wagner Leadership Institute in 2007.
In 1995, Dave and Becky founded Tree of Life Church, Carlisle, PA, where they served together for 25 years.
During this time, their goal was to love people and help them know God.
Dave thoroughly enjoyed firearms. He built long rifles, repaired and restored German and Austrian sporting guns, and collected antique guns.
He was a member of the German Gun Collectors Association.
DAVE LOVED TO HUNT; SO, SO MUCH!
Life would pause for hunting season.
To honor Dave: go for a walk in the woods, sit on the porch with your beloved, watch the birds, get to know your Creator. Jesus will never fail you.
According to Dave's wishes, there will be no service.

Herr family, I just heard this sad news today. I am SO very sorry for your wonderful family´s loss. Pastor Dave was a loving man and I will never forget his impact on my life. Pastor Dave you will be sorely missed. You left a legacy in so many people's spiritual lives. Just as hard as those left here on earth will mourn your loss, I know that just as many if not more are rejoicing in Heaven at your coming home. You walked the walk when it came to peace, love, grace, giving and so many other things, im sure the first words you heard were Well Done My Faithful Servant.
