Dixie Lee Piper
MECHANIC FALLS, Maine-Dixie Lee Piper, 81, of Mechanic Falls, died peacefully in her home on February 7, 2015.
Born Dixie Lee Elliott, she grew up in Mount Holly Springs, PA, a place that remained close to her heart all of her life. She married Carroll H. Piper April 4, 1954, and moved to Poland ME, where they lived the majority of their 60+ years together.
To know Dixie was to know she loved her home state of Pennsylvania, loved her family and friends, loved creating all things arts and crafts, loved her camp in Parkman ME, and loved serving her community.
She was devoted to all aspects of the Poland Community Church for 60 years, and in later life served as a lay minister for the United Church of Christ, a calling that she deeply loved.
Her professional career began as executive assistant to the superintendant of the local regional school district and ended with H&R Block and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, where she also served as a volunteer.
Her next of kin includes her husband, Carroll H. Piper, daughter Karen Piper and her husband Andrew Lintz, son John Piper and his wife Holly, grandson Joshua Gallop and great granddaughter Ellise.
In addition, she was surrounded by an extended group of family and friends in both Maine and Pennsylvania, all of whom brought great joy to her life.

All are welcome to a service celebrating her life at 11AM, Sat., Feb. 14, 2015 at the Poland Community Church followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers she requested donations be made to Poland Community Church, The Ladies Guild, 1212 Maine St, Poland ME 04274 or to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave, Lewiston ME 04240. Arrangements are in the care of the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls.
