Emma Leota Johns
Emma Leota "Lee" Neeper Johns, 82, formerly of Carlisle and Leola, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Green Ridge Village, Newville, PA from complications related to Alzheimer's disease.
Born in Curwensville, PA; she was the daughter of the late James Dorsey and Rhoda Beatrice Neeper.
She worked as a cosmetologist and homemaker and was previously a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Leola, PA
"Lee" enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, golfing, sewing and playing the organ and piano. Long known for her "gift of gab" and sense of humor, she was a delight to be around.
She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Joseph Ross Johns who died in 1999, one son, David Dorsey Johns and two brothers, Blair Dorsey Neeper and Allen Lynn Neeper.
Surviving are two daughters, Gail L. Zoccola Diem of Lititz and Sharon Sentz Latham wife of William, of Dillsburg; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are eight siblings, Oscar Neeper, Eva Mae DuFour, LeRoy Neeper, Beulah McDonald, Doylin Neeper, Wayne Neeper, Marion Shimmel and Wilbur Neeper.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 21st, 2016 at 12 Noon at the Trumbauer Memorial Cemetery of Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Rd., Leola, PA for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Phoenix Assistance Dogs of Central PA (PADCENTRAL.ORG), founded and directed by her granddaughter, Linzey Jo Zoccola, 547 Woodview Drive, Lititz, PA 17543.
