George Wertz Obituary

Born Jan. 7, 1919, in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late George J. Sr. and Fay Catherine (Weary) Wertz.

He was the retired owner/operator of Wertz Coal Yard in Mechanicsburg.

He was a member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church and a member of the Antique Automobile Clubs of both the Hershey and Gettysburg regions since 1971.

Mr. Wertz is survived by his wife, Betty L. (McGuire) Wertz; a son, Charles E. Wertz of Mechanicsburg; two daughters, Nancy L. Ling of Orefield and Debra Wertz of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Naomi Womer of Landisburg; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in his church, 15 State Road, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Richard G. Lorenz and the Rev. Andrew S. Fitch officiating. Burial will be in Trindle Spring Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday in the church.

Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pinnacle Health Hospice, 3705 Elmwood Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or the American Cancer Society, Capital Region Unit, 3211 N. Front St., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110-1342.
