Herbert B. Shughart, 89, of Blain, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2019.
He was born November 19, 1929 in Carlisle to the late Frederick H. and Ruth A. (Miller) Shughart and was the widower of Lois F. (Bricker) Shughart.
Herb loved the outdoors, he worked most of his life as a dairy farmer and enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by two daughters, Lauren K. Swartz of Virginia Beach, VA, and Linda J. Shughart of Columbia, SC; one son, Michael S. Shughart of Newville; two sisters, Phyllis Rynard of Carlisle, and Dorothy Wolfe of Shippensburg; one brother, Larry Shughart of Carlisle; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Shughart of Herford, NC; one granddaughter, Margo Anderson of Alexandria, VA; one grandson, David Swartz of Virginia Beach, VA; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Herb was preceded in death by his son SFC Randall D. Shughart (MOH); and four brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Wayne Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
