Born in Patton, she was the daughter of the late John and Susan (Dvorchak) Micklick.
Mrs. Sauter was the widow of retired Army Lt. Col. Otto J. Sauter, who died April 29, 2000.
She was a graduate of Patton High School, a graduate of the Philipsburg State Hospital School of Nursing, a graduate of New York University, with a degree in nursing education, and a graduate of Baylor University, with a master's degree in hospital administration.
An Army veteran of World War II, she served in many military hospitals in various capacities, from staff nursing to nursing service administration, including the 30th Field Hospital in the European Theater. She retired after 23 years of service in 1963. Following retirement she was employed as an associate director of nursing service at St. Peter's Medical Center in New Brunswick, N.J., and as director of nursing services at the former Carlisle Hospital, Carlisle.
Mrs. Sauter was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle, a member of the Army Nurse Corps Association, alumna of New York and Baylor universities, a member of the Cumberland Valley Retired Officers Association, a charter member of the Women in the Military Service and a member of the Officers' Spouses Club in Mechanicsburg.
Mrs. Sauter is survived by many cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 87 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, with the Rev. Andrew J. Meluskey as celebrant. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 140 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013 or to St. Ann's Byzantine Catholic Church, 5409 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
