In Loving Memory of

Kenneth Steven Gately

01/16/1939 - 03/20/2026

Kenneth Steven Gately, known to all as Steve, went to be with his Lord on March 20, 2026. He was born in Litchfield, Illinois on January 16, 1939 to Louis Neil and May Pearl Gately. His family moved from there living in a few spots in the Midwest, eventually arriving in Texas where Steve graduated from Waco High and then went on to Baylor University. It was at Baylor where he met Gloria, his wife of 66 years. A faithful husband, father, and provider, Steve ensured that his family always went to a church where the Bible was taught as God's word. He served in the Air Force before going to work for Sears where his father had also worked. In 1980, he made a significant career change, joining Bible Study Fellowship as their accountant and then business manager when that ministry moved its headquarters to San Antonio, Texas in 1980. There he served on the board of deacons at Castle Hills First Baptist Church, the board of the Salvation Army, the board of the Baptist Hospital, and as a founding board member of Air Life. After retirement from BSF, he served on that board as well. He was a Gideon, taught Sunday school classes, volunteered at hospitals and at Salvation Army events, and served in the BSF children's program. He lived a life marked by service to others. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, sons Mark (Trudy) and Jeff (Kathleen), nine grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers David and Paul.

Steve will always be remembered for his faithfulness and heart for service.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 11th at 1:00 p.m. at Park Hills Baptist Church, 17747 San Pedro Ave., San Antonio, Texas 78232. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Bible Study Fellowship orPark Hills Baptist Church in memory of Steve.
