Nancy Burton Toliver, 93, of Haskell, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026 surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Hevrin officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00pm – 7:30pm, Friday, April 3, 2026 at Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. The family will begin receiving friends at Nancy’s home on Thursday at noon. Nancy was born September 18, 1932, in Knox City, Texas, to the late R.L. Burton and Vera Fay Rogers Burton. She graduated from Haskell High School in 1950. She attended Baylor University, later earning her Bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and her Master’s degree from Hardin-Simmons University.
Nancy devoted many years of her life to education, teaching in Haskell and throughout Knox County. On August 31, 1952, she married Bailey L. Toliver in Haskell, Texas, and they shared 62 happy years of marriage.
A woman of strong faith, Nancy was an active member of the Baptist Church, where she also taught Sunday school. She was a longtime member of the Progressive Study Club and enjoyed many years as an avid bridge player with her bridge club.
Nancy had a deep love for travel and was fortunate to visit countries around the world. She not only enjoyed experiencing new places but also took great joy in learning about them and sharing that knowledge with others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Bailey L. Toliver on September 10, 2014.
Nancy was blessed with four children: her daughter, Lee Ann and husband Robin Colbert, parents of Gates Colbert M.D. and wife Brooke, and Julee Ann and her husband Will Riley. Her sons, Brian Toliver and wife Leesa, parents of Brent and wife Susan, Jonathan and wife Sally; Joseph Toliver and wife Caroline, parents of Chelsea and husband Kasey Byler, Marcus, Eric, and Emma; Sam Toliver and wife Julie, parents of Shelton and wife Fallon and BaileyAnn; Great grandchildren, Thomas Riley, Lydia Riley, Grant Colbert, Caleb Colbert, Claire Toliver, Will Toliver, Davis Toliver, Annie Toliver, Annistyn Toliver, Briggs Toliver and a host of dear family and friends.
The family request memorials be made to the Haskell Experienced Citizens Center, 1404 South 1st Street, Haskell, Texas 79521.
