Tommye Crabb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by M.E. Rodriguez Funeral Home on Mar. 30, 2026.
Tommye Lee Pierce Crabb was born on October 14, 1933 and entered eternal rest on March 21, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Kemper Baker Crabb, Sr, and her parents, Florine Ellis Turner Pierce, and Baud Arthur Pierce. She was an only child.

Tommye went to Stephen F Austin High School in Houston, then to Sam Houston State University (then called Sam Houston State Teachers College), where she met Kemper, and they married in 1953. He enlisted in the US Army after his graduation in 1954 and she went to live with him in Panama where he was stationed. She returned and taught at a junior high in Texas City until Kemper returned and they moved to Corpus Christi where he coached football and she taught English and Latin. In 1961 they relocated to San Antonio, where she remained until her death. She continued teaching, first at East Central High School, where she also led the pep squad and planned many talent shows. She moved to teaching at San Antonio College around 1966 and continued teaching there until her mid 80s. She spent summers getting a master's degree and fulfilling all the many hours needed for her Doctorate Degree.

She is survived by her children, Kemper B Crabb, Jr. and Dawna Crabb Luitjen, her grandchildren, Charity Whitworth, Cassidy C Luitjen, and Schedel B Luitjen, and numerous great grandchildren.

Tommye was an amazing woman who loved Jesus. Her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend to many, scholar, and teacher (for many years), blessed thousands. Her family and friends dearly miss her, yet know she is rejoicing in heaven with her Savior.

A private burial will be held at Ft Sam Houston.
