Ellie King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home in Austin/Round Rock on Mar. 30, 2026.
Ellie King passed away at her home in Round Rock, TX on Thursday March 26, 2026, from a heart condition. Although it was unexpected, she is at peace.

Ellie was born in Austin, Texas on November 17, 1954, to Lauris "LJ" Robinson and Mary Faye "Murffy" Stalling. She was a twin and one of five kids. She lived in Austin and then moved with her family to Round Rock in the 3rd or 4th grade. They eventually landed on the banks of Brushy Creek where Ellie spent her days running and playing with her siblings and friends. She attended junior high at C.D. Fulkes and high school at Round Rock High School. She was studious and an active participant in student council, UIL, debate, and cheerleading. She was also a dragonette. After graduation, Ellie went to Sam Houston State University but then transferred to The University of Texas at Austin. She finished her college years graduating from Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Ellie started dating the love of her life, Wayne King, at the end of her sophomore year of high school. They developed a deep connection over the next several years that turned into a love like no other. She and Wayne got married on August 25, 1979. They had three children and four grandchildren. Nothing made Ellie happier than being a mom, until the day she became our beloved Yaya. Ellie and Wayne have a running joke that their kids are okay, but their grandkids are really great!

Ellie found joy in the simple things in life. She loved gardening and being in nature. She had a special green thumb that was legendary amongst her friends and family. Her kids joked that all she had to do was look at or talk to a plant and it would flourish. She loved animals and spent all seasons of her life surrounded by a variety of unique creatures. She enjoyed spending her time on the porch listening to music or the birds with Wayne and the cats. Ellie enjoyed Texas history and sharing bits of wisdom, always reminding her children of the roots from whence they came. She also loved to cook, often tying her love for her heritage and culture into the meals she made, truly cooking from the heart. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family as they were her proudest accomplishment.

Ellie spent over 30 years working for an ENT office in Austin and Round Rock. She took her role and responsibilities as the office administrator seriously and her skills and hard work were respected by many. She built long lasting relationships with many co-workers over the course of her time there. She retired in 2021 and was excited to start the next season of her life telling Wayne which yard project or garden addition they were going to get started on!

Ellie is preceded in death by her parents, LJ and Murffy, her twin brother Larry Robinson, and the family dog Gracie. She is survived by her husband Wayne and her three children, Caleb King (wife Claire), Kate Whitehead (husband Jordan), Caroline Beattie (husband Scott), brother Mike Robinson (wife Sandra), sister Linda Wiley (husband Alan), brother Tim Robinson (wife Christine), sister-in-law Barbara Robinson, her cherished grandchildren Evie Whitehead, Sophia and Charlie Beattie, Catherine King, as well as many sister and brother in laws, nieces and nephews, and very dear friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday April 1st from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Beck Funeral Home at 15709 Ranch Road 620 N Austin, TX 78717, followed by a service and burial at Palm Valley Lutheran Church in Round Rock on Thursday April 2nd at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Round Rock Serving Center, Williamson County Animal Shelter, or plant a tree in her honor and memory through Tree Folks.
