Roy Anderson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hurley Funeral Home - Pleasanton on Mar. 30, 2026.
Roy "Buddy" Clark Anderson Jr., 71, of Charlotte, Texas, passed peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 26, 2026. He was born on February 3, 1955, in Hondo, Texas, to Roy Clark Anderson Sr. and Walieta Marie Koemel Anderson.

Buddy was the fifth child and only son of Roy Sr. and Walieta. Strong-willed and stubborn by nature, those traits were softened by his deep love and unwavering devotion to his family.

The Anderson family moved from Nacogdoches to Pleasanton before Buddy's senior year of high school. It was during that senior year at Pleasanton High School that he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Eichman. They graduated together in 1973 and were married in November of that same year.

The young couple began their life together on the family farm in Charlotte, Texas, where their first child was born. In July 1974, Buddy enlisted in the United States Army. The family relocated near Fort Hood, and during his service, they welcomed their second child. Buddy served for three years as a Food Service Specialist, attaining the rank of Specialist 5.

After his honorable discharge, the family returned to Nacogdoches, where their third daughter was born. Several years later, Buddy pursued higher education, first attending Stephen F. Austin State University before graduating in 1985 from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.

Roy and Elizabeth, along with their three daughters at the time, moved back to South Texas. Roy worked in various trades to support his growing family, including selling farm equipment for Vermeer, growing and selling vegetables at the farmer's market and for the WIC program, and later as a long-haul truck driver. The family settled in Pleasanton, where they welcomed their fourth daughter. After their three oldest daughters graduated from Pleasanton High School, Roy and Elizabeth returned to Charlotte-near where their love story first began-and made it their home once again.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Clark Anderson Sr. and Walieta Marie Koemel Anderson; his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Anderson; his sister, Sharon Ann Page; and his nieces, Jenny Rebecca Smith Becker and Kimberly Kay Reppond Chandler.

Roy is survived by four daughters, Tracey Hollingsworth, and husband James; Walieta Belloma and husband Thomas; Jennifer Mann and husband Johnny; and Stephanie Anderson; nine grand-children, Samantha Parks, Ashlee Oropeza (Steven Oropeza), William Belloma, Alexandra Weir (Anthony Weir), Garrett Belloma, Joshua Mann, Justin Hernandez, Daniel Hollingsworth and Jordan Mann; and six great-grand-children Addison Sambrano, Wade Weir, Evelynn Oropeza, Luke Oropeza, Winona Weir, and Janessa Mann.
