Leonard Campbell Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 2, 2026.
Leonard Wayman Campbell passed away on February 23, 2026, in Austin, Texas, due to complications from his 15-year COPD condition and fighting multiple bouts of pneumonia. Leonard was born on January 27, 1951, in Taylor, Texas, to Joseph Allen Campbell Jr. and Lillian Marie Kalich Campbell. Leonard was the 5th child out of 7 siblings. (Siblings in order of birth: Dorothy Charlene Campbell Balusek, (deceased), Shirley Ann Campbell Townsend, James Allen Campbell and wife Sharon Marie Gore Campbell, Virginia Eva Campbell, Leonard Wayman Campbell, Maxine Marie Campbell Fishbeck (deceased)and Pamela Jo Campbell Barnett). He and his siblings spent their days working on the farm, riding bikes, swimming, and playing sports.

Leonard attended elementary school in Hutto and then the family moved to Round Rock, where he graduated from Round Rock High School in 1969. After graduation Leonard joined the Marines and afterwards transitioned to a career as a welder and construction worker.

Leonard's life took some hard knocks, mainly from his own not so good choices, but he did maintain his faith in God and family. Leonard found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like listening to what he called "real" music, which was the Rock music from the 70's and 80's! He loved the outdoors! He spent time at the lake or beach, or just sitting on the front porch. He loved playing practical jokes on his friends and family and had a sense of humor that brought others and himself to laughter.

As we bid farewell to Leonard, we choose to remember him in his best minutes, in the times of laughter and family gatherings and in the "wins" of his life. We find comfort in knowing that Leonard has been welcomed into the eternal embrace of our Lord, where he now rests in perfect peace.

The family will bid our brother goodbye in a small private farewell service and intern his ashes to rest in the St Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Taylor, Tx.

The family is thankful for your prayers and no gifts are necessary. However, If you choose to, you may donate on his behalf to a charity of your choice, or to the COPD Foundation (https://www.copdfoundation.org) and/or to the Dementia Foundation (https://www.dementiasociety.org)
