Larry E. Noss, 75, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, in Harrisburg Hospital. He was born Sept. 20, 1936, in Mechanicsburg to the late Archie Noss Sr. and Sarah Kapp Noss.
Larry was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School, Class of 1954, and served in the U.S. Army with the military police. He retired from Star Enterprise after 35 years of service and was a member of the Tall Cedars, Masonic Lodge #302, Mechanicsburg and Shepherdstown United Methodist Church. Larry served as a Sunday school teacher, church custodian, started the usher program where he also served as head usher, and assisted with numerous church committees. Larry played on the church softball and Mechanicsburg Twilight baseball teams and loved fishing, hunting and being outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joanna M. Harlan Noss; two sons, Michael E. Noss of Camp Hill and Jeffrey L. Noss of Carlisle; a daughter, Bonnie L. Nester of New Kingstown; seven grandchildren, Jesse Nester, Joshua Nester, Kendra Noss, Johnathan Noss, Rebecca Nester, Cody Noss, and Courtney Noss; two brothers, Archie Noss Jr. of Enola and Wayne Noss of Camp Hill; two sisters, Mary Lantzy of Mechanicsburg and Sara Sanders of Camp Hill.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Shepherdstown United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Larry's name to the American Lung Association, 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
