Magdalene Rillo

Magdalene "Manny" Rillo, 91, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle. She was born on October 21, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre, and was a daughter of George and Magdalena (Kaniuk) Nestranski and was the widow of Joseph A. Rillo, who passed away on June 5, 1984.
Manny graduated from Shade High School in Cairnbrook and attended three years at the University of Pittsburgh with a major in Physical Fitness. She and her late husband founded and operated the former Rillo's Restaurant in Carlisle from 1960 to 2006. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carlisle. Manny enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, casinos and taking care of her restaurant and family.
She is survived by one son, Nicholas (wife, Teresa) Rillo of Dillsburg, three daughters; Madelon (husband, James) Hickey of Mechanicsburg, Mary Ann Sherman of Carlisle and Michele Rillo (husband, Bryan Wenk) of Biglerville, one brother, George Nestranski of Mechanicsburg, one sister, Helen Becker of Biglerville, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph A. Rillo, Jr., two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr, Carlisle, with Rev. William C. Forrey officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's New Catholic Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held in the church narthex from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 152 E Pomfret St, Carlisle, PA 17013.
