Marion Shannon Obituary

Marion P. Shannon, 86, of New Germantown passed away Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Manor Care Health Services, Carlisle.

Born March 26, 1921 at New Germantown, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Goldie M. Bistline Smith and the widow of Paul B. Shannon. She was a graduate of Blain Union High School.

She retired as a postmaster in New Germantown and had formerly worked as a seamstress at the Blain Dress Factory.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Blain Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and Blain Ambulance Club, and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed gardening and watching TV, especially game shows. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. Her quick laughter will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are a daughter, Judy Shannon Cook and husband Michael B. of Enola; a sister, Polly A. Lightner, New Germantown; two grandchildren, Erin N. Cook & Mallory M. Cook of Enola; and nine nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George W. Smith and Tommy V. Smith; and three sisters, Maxine M. Vaccarella, Lois L. Zerby and Faye L. Hoover.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church in Blain with the Rev. Robert R. Yankovitz officiating. Burial will be in Blain Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Nickel Funeral Home, 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, and on Tuesday at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, P.O. BOX 127, Blain, PA 17006 or to Manor Care Health Services, 940 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA 17015.
