Mary Louise Wise
August 5, 1940 - October 13, 2023
CARLISLE - Mary Louise Wise, 83, of Carlisle, entered into rest in the peace of the Lord on October 13, 2023. Born at Carlisle Hospital, August 5, 1940, the daughter of the late Dr. Walter B. and Mary E. Wilson and the widow of the late Martin H. Wise who passed in March of 2020 after they enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
Mary Louise was a 1958 graduate of Carlisle High School. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ and a 65-year member of Old Bellarie Chapter #375 Order of the Eastern Star. In her younger years, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie leader and a member of the Junior Civic Club. She loved the water, her pool in Florida and the ocean in Avalon, NJ. Mary Louise loved flowers and gardening. She also liked to travel and took pride in her cooking and making sure her friends and family were well fed and taken care of. She had a smile that lit up the room and her blue eyes were always a topic of conversation. Mary Louise was always concerned about others before herself. She was a kind and generous soul who will be remembered well by her loving family and friends as one with unconditional love, wisdom, perspective and a quiet keen wit.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary E. Wise (Mike Beam) and Dodie Wise both of Carlisle; three sons, Martin H. (wife Charlene) Wise II of Venice, FL, David B. (wife Pamela) Wise of Haymarket, VA, and Michael C. Wise (Georgia) of NYC, NY; four grandchildren, Eric, Amanda, Christina and Matthew; four great-grandchildren, Aden, Landon, Lillian and Lennox; one brother Robert C. (wife Nancy) Wilson of Punta Gorda Isle, FL; two nieces, Kathleen and Jennifer; two nephews, David and Danny; and several great nieces and nephews.
At Mary Louise's request there will be no viewing or services. Family and friends will gather at the graveside later next summer.
