Miriam Weimer Obituary

Miriam (Riley) Weimer, died on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, in Virginia Beach, Va.

Miriam was the widow of Kinzie L. Weimer, her husband of over 55 years.

She was the mother of Richard A. Weimer of Washington, D.C., and Barbara Weimer-McNeilly of Virginia Beach, Va.; a grandson; two granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.

Miriam was a graduate of Hamilton High School, Hamilton Township, N.J., outside of Trenton. She was also a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, and did her graduate work at the School of Medical Technology at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital in Upper Darby. Miriam then worked as a medical technologist, certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists at Bryn Mawr Hospital, Upper Darby, and at other hospitals in the area.

Later, Miriam returned to school and became a teacher of senior high school English, certified by the Pennsylvania Board of Education, and taught at Big Spring High School and the Carlisle Senior High School for several years.

Miriam was a member and past president of the Cumberland County Historical Society, and a member and past president of the former Carlisle Hospital Women's Auxiliary. She was also active in many other local organizations.

Memorial services will be held in Carlisle at a later date.

The Cremation Society of Virginia, Virginia Beach, is handling the arrangements.
