She died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, in ManorCare Health Services of Carlisle.
Mrs. Jennings was born Nov. 30, 1916, in Lauderdale County, Miss. She was a daughter of the late Levi and Lizann Lewis Davis.
She was employed by Dr. Jacob Kline and his family in Lewistown for 20 years and served as a caregiver of young children at the Historic Carlisle Barracks Nursery/Child Development Center for 14 years.
Mrs. Jennings was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of
Carlisle for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Adult Sunday School, the Sanctuary Choir, the Rachel H. Davis Missionary Circle and the Prayer Band.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Fred W. Jennings; her daughter, Freddie B. Manning; three sisters, Ophelia Ruffin, Estea Lewis and Almedia McDonald; and three great-grandchildren, Blair L. Carpenter,Tarris A. Carpenter, and Teara L. Carpenter.
She is survived by five grandchildren, Linda A. Manning, Vanessa L. Brown, Phyllis J. Wallace, Barbara K. Carpenter and Howard L. Manning Jr., all of Carlisle; six great-grandchildren, Marcus A. Brown, Joseph R. Brown II, Jerrel M. Thompson, Brandon G. Rhodes, Jazmin N. Wallace, and Brookelynn C. Carpenter, all of Carlisle; three sisters, Marcielean White of Harrisburg, Clemmieteen Hampton of Collinsville, Miss., and Betty Jean Byrd of Tucker, Ga.; two brothers, Willie C. Davis and L.V. Davis both of Collinsville, Miss; one stepsister, Alfreda Sudbury of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one step-brother, Levertis Daniels of Greenville, Miss.; one great-aunt, Alma Daniels of Meridian, Miss; and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Dr. William E. Jones Jr. will officiate at services. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the William Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call at the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, South Middleton Township, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at her church.
