Robert Collins Obituary

Robert L. Collins, 82, of New Cumberland, died Friday, April 28, 2006, in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township.

Robert was a retired general manager for Union Quarries, Carlisle. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as an Army paratrooper. He was also a bus driver for Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg.

He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church, New Cumberland; West Shore Lodge No. 681, F&AM, Camp Hill; the Harrisburg Consistory; the Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg; the Range End Golf Club, Dillsburg; American Legion Post No.143, New Cumberland; and the Mechanicsburg Officers' Club Mess and Navy League. He was a former New Cumberland borough councilman for 12 years; and past president of the New Cumberland Jaycees.

Bob was born June 28, 1923, in Clarksburg, W.Va., to the late Lewis R. and Mary (Jenkins) Collins.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Kohle) Collins; a daughter, Barbara C. Oyler and her husband, Michael, of Carlisle; a son, James J. Collins II and his wife, Susan, of Mt. Holly Springs; four grandchildren, Deborah L. Stover, David M. Collins, Mark A. Collins and Steven M. Oyler; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today, in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland, with the Rev. Scott Ogden, his pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to either West Shore Lodge No. 681 Building Fund, 2215 Market St., Camp Hill, PA 17011 or to your charity of choice.
