Simon E. Alleman, 83, a resident of the Sarah Todd Nursing Home, Carlisle, formerly of Shippensburg, died on the evening of Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013.
He was born on Oct. 8, 1929, in Pleasant Hall, a son of the late David and Mae Stouffer Alleman. On Jul. 26, 1955, Simon married Ms. Vesta L. Kelley. She preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 2002.
Simon was employed for over 25 years at the former S.K.F. Company of Shippensburg, working in various positions, retiring in 1992.
He was a long-time member of the Shippensburg Church of Christ. Simon enjoyed working with wood, gardening, and mowing his lawn in his free time.
He is survived by his three sons, Kenneth E.(LeAnn) Alleman of Shippensburg, Kevin E. (Barbara) Alleman of Shippensburg, and Rick L. (partner Anton W. Bergner) Alleman of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Amber R. Alleman of Shippensburg, Eric L. (Kelly) Alleman of Chambersburg, and Shawn R. Alleman of Shippensburg; one great granddaughter, Madison Alleman; three siblings, Bob (Nancy) Alleman of Carlisle, Carrie (Willis) Negley of Newville, and Fred (Judy) Alleman of Newville.
In addition to his parents and wife, Simon was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Carbaugh; and one brother, Charles Alleman.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Dennis Adams will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
