Born Dec. 2, 1946, in Mt. Crawford, Va., he was a son of Thelma I. Myers Uplinger of Mt. Crawford, Va., and the late Wilbur LeeRoy Uplinger Sr.
Mr. Uplinger was a truck driver for ABF of Youngstown, Ohio, where he was a member of Teamsters Union Local 377.
He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God, Carlisle, and Cornerstone Assembly of God, Columbiana, Ohio.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 23 years, Darlene M. Sampson Uplinger; two daughters, Tonya J. Shepherd of Baton Rouge, La., and Tara L. Grace of Newville; a brother, Richard of Taylor, S.C.; three sisters, Kay Crounse of Mt. Crawford, Va., Jane Lickey of Manassas, Va., and Jackie Carr of Lacey Springs, Va.; and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a brother, David.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Albert Yanno officiating.
Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
