William "Bill" H. Banks III

William "Bill" H. Banks III of Carlisle died on 11/4/2025 at the age of 92. Born December 2nd, 1932, in Mifflintown. He was the son of William H. Banks II and Lenore (Wetzstein) Banks. He graduated from Juniata Joint High School and attended Mercersburg Academy. He was a proud Navy veteran, serving 4 years. After fulfilling his Navy contract, he began a 19-year career with TWA and then went on to work for Halls Motor Transit for 13 years. He later retired from Overnite Transportations. He was a great salesman and hard worker.
Bill had several nicknames, including Snuffy to his friends and Pappy to his grandchildren. Bill was a faithful member of the Second Presbyterian Church of Carlisle. He also belonged to several clubs and organizations, including dual membership in Carlisle Lodge 260 and Union Lodge 324 of Mifflintown F & A M. Bill also belonged to the Harrisburg Tall Cedars Forest #43, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine, and their Greeters Unit. He was a member of the Cumberland County Shrine, Perry Juniata Shrine, Upper Dauphin Shrine, Franklin County Shrine, Zembo Luncheon Club, Capital Area Scottish Rite Club, Carlisle Elks #578, Carlisle American Legion Post 101, Life member of The VFW Post 5863 in Mifflintown, and a Life member to the West Shore Sports Hall of Fame.
Preceded in Heaven by his wife Sandy (8/2/2025), mother and father, and sister Caroline Keener (2020). Survived by son Lynn (Gina) Yeager, son Todd (Judy) Bauserman, grandchildren, Nikki (Bryan) Petrone, Sarah (Ryan) Yeager, and Tyler (Jordyne) Bauserman, great grandson Theo Bauserman, and beloved puppy Rummy. Bill was a charitable man that loved his family. He enjoyed watching Penn State football and the Washington Commanders. He will be greatly missed.
A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, November 7, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., in the Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Dr, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Jeff Gibelius officiating. The burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
