William K. "Bill" Nye
William K. "Bill" Nye, 93, of Newburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born Saturday, March 17, 1923 in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Wallace M. and Sarah Jane West Nye.
Bill was a 1942 graduate of Shippensburg High School. He was a United States Navy veteran serving in WWII and served in the Reserves during the Korean War. Bill was a member of the Newburg United Methodist Church.
He retired in 1978 from Letterkenny Army Depot where he worked in the Instrument Control Department. Bill was a member of the Orrstown Masonic Lodge # 262, F & A. M., Harrisburg Consistory, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Valley Forest # 145, Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, and Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, both in Shippensburg. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, M. Ruth Rebok Nye, two sons; Wallace W. Nye, Shippensburg, and Wayne K. Nye, Newburg, one daughter, Marsha G. Kuhn, Newburg, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Newburg United Methodist Church, 203 High Street, Newburg, PA., with the Rev. Steve P. Salisbury officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Newburg United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 68, Newburg, PA. 17240.
