It has been six years and we still use all of your life lessons and think of you, Dad, every day. You are still the love of Mom's life. Your children and grandchildren (I think it is 17 now) have lots of stories and memories to share. You didn't get to meet your last grandson, but I think he kinda looks like one of the Jones Boys and Tyler. You aren't here to teach the newest of the babies to swim, but I don't think any of us will forget who used to teach everyone to love the water and swim. You live on in our everyday lives in one way or another. Mark and I had to buy a big tractor to cut grass at our new house. I know, "Why do you want to have to cut all of that grass?". Driving it felt very normal, thanks to many years of being on the tractor with you. We won't be lifting anyone up in the scoop though. That was never fun.
Mom still talks to you. If you are listening, please maybe refrain from talking back. If she ever tells me you are talking back, I am gonna have to go get her and make her live with me. That isn't what she wants. She is happy at home with you.

Hey, Dad! I figured here is as good as any other place to send my words out into the universe. Mom talks to you at home, but I don't think you are there. I think you are on the Rim Road looking out where you used to roll tires down the mountain for fun. At least that is where I picture you the most. Sometimes you are sitting at one of your favorite restaurants eating as my shrimp talking about another place where you like to go for shrimp. When I go to the cabin you are there too. The girls and I don't get to go often, but you are with us when we go. We take you with us in some memory or another and you help us get the truck ready before we go. The truck tells me if the oil is good so I don't have to check it, but I do keep emergency water and flashlights and all the other stuff you taught your young road warriors over the years. I still have Mark figuring out exactly (to the minute) when we will arrive so someone is still keeping track of us on the road and making sure we get where we are going. We still miss you and all of your weird ways. We take care of Mom (as much as she will let us) and get her out of the house when we go exploring. She comes on trips with Kennedy and me. Your other granddaughter, Dallas, moved to South Korea! I know... I know... Why on earth would she want to go there?!?!? It's a long story. I try my best to keep track of her and try to convince her to come home every time I think I can get away with it. I guess we all got your "wandering toes". I hope she comes home some day. Until then, I will be keeping Momma and Kennedy company and running the roads as usual. Mark and I thought we might be moving to Wyoming! It is looking more like New Mexico or Texas though. Back to your other homes away from home. Everything reminds us of you. We think about you every single day. We still love your grumpy butt and miss you.
Until next time,

Losing a loved one is never easy, but our loving god promises to give the strength and courage you'll need to endure, and to cope with the pain of your loss. He also promises to hold your hand every step of the way. (Isaiah 40:29, 41:10, 13)
