Dennis Fitch Obituary
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. today (April 26) at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012, at Carlsbad Cemetery (old section) with the Rev. Phillip Price officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, N.M. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Dennis Fitch was born June 9, 1920, in Beauty, Ky., to Rosco and Anne Wilda (Little) Fitch. He went to work in the West Virginia coal mines in 1940. Dennis married Lena Mae Clark on Feb. 2, 1944. They moved to Carlsbad in 1959. Here he worked on heavy equipment for AMAX and retired in 1983. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God, where he had served as a deacon. Dennis was a connoisseur of Western movies and enjoyed Western history. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors are his wife, Lena Mae Fitch of Carlsbad, N.M.; son, Scott Fitch and wife, Vonda Kay of Carlsbad, N.M.; grandchildren: Audra Fitch of Odessa, Texas, Jaxon Fitch of Portales, N.M., and Lexie Fitch of Carlsbad, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Butch Sowers, Bruce Yates, Harold West, Russell Yates, David Rauch and Bill Sibley.
Memorial contributions may be made to Carlsbad Community Foundation, Museum Amigos Demand Fund, 114 S. Canyon St., Carlsbad, NM 88220. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.

Dennis was one of the great men who held the past in his hands and offered it to us all. I really enjoyed looking through his museum of western memorabilia, and he new the story behind every piece of history he held there. It didn't take more than a handshake to feel the love of life he had. A part of me is gone now, but his memory will forever be in my heart. Mrs. Fitch, my sorrow is for your loss.

Aunt Lena and Scott; we are so sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Dennis. No matter how far away we are, there is always such loving memories when anyone in the family talks about all of you; they have shared the memories with the children and grandchildren and we cherish them.
