Jack Kartchner Obituary

Jack Dean Kartchner passed away Oct. 12 in Alamogordo at the age of 72.

Born in Carlsbad on July 28, 1940, Karchner was the son of Melvin Wandel (Jack) and Irma Gertrude Kartchner.

He graduated from high school in 1959, then attended Roswell Military Institute. Jack Dean entered the U.S. Marine Corps where he served from 1961 to 1967. After his military service he worked as a mechanic for Kerr McGee Potash mine in Carlsbad and Trona, California.

He is survived by his children: Son: Quentin and wife Dianna Kartchner and their children, Rustin and, Travis and Kaitland Melton of Lubbock,Texas and his son: Christopher and his wife Beci and their daughter, Jazzmyn of Capitan, New Mexico. Other survivors are his brothers and sisters: Norma Louise Longsine of Clanton, Alabama, Melvin Neil and his wife Anita Kartchner of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Orville Rex and his wife Norma Jean Kartchner of Roswell, New Mexico, Lawrence Ned and his wife Patricia E. Kartchner of Ridgecrest, California, and Judy Kartchner of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
