Juan Garza Obituary

Juan "Tani" D. Garza, 75, of Ural Drive, Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 in Carlsbad.
Juan Duran Garza was born on June 7, 1943 in Loving, NM to the late Mariano and Maria (Duran) Garza.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilee (Methola) Garza and his sister, Ramona Gomez. He is survived by three sons, Juan and wife Grace Garza, Orlando and wife Suzanne Garza and Steven and wife Lindsay Garza, all of Carlsbad, NM; sister Cruz Hernandez of Tolleson, AZ; brother Manuel Garza of Loving, NM; 6 grandchildren: Juan Garza III, Kristen Young and Kellie, Luke, Rylee and Will Garza; 7 great-grandchildren: Gage, Grayson, Emily, Otto and Jocelyn Garza and Talon and Jensen Young and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear life companion Priscilla Salcido.
Juan worked many years as a potash miner prior to retirement. He was a devoted member of San Jose Catholic Church working with various ministries and his church family. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He had a great passion for sports and cherished the countless hours spent coaching not only his sons and their friends, but also his grandchildren. He was a master carpenter with amazing gift for wood working, donating many of his projects to the Catholic Community. Juan was the foundation of his family and his values and beliefs will live on through them.
Funeral Mass was held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Interment took place at Carlsbad Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas Methola, Ray Methola, Fernando Hernandez, Cesar Hernandez, Trine Rodriguez, Tony Hernandez, Fred Cota and Ralph Vasquez. Honorary Pallbearer was Julio Martinez. Services have been entrusted to West Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at westfuneralhomellc.com.
