Librada Orona Ramirez, 90, of West Pierce Street, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Lakeview Christian Home.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon today (May 14) at the Iglesia De Nuestro Padre Jesus in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. Ojinaga arrangements are by Funeraria Del Valle. Local arrangements were by West Funeral Home.
Librada Orona Ramirez was born March 21, 1919, in Vado De Piedra, Chihuahua, Mexico. Her devoted parents, Antonio and Hermina (Garcia) Orona, raised her to be a loving mother and wife. After her husband, Luis Ramirez, passed away in 1971, she moved, making Carlsbad her home. Librada had worked her own farm in Mexico; the only hired help were planters. She used the skills she developed when gardening. Librada was generous in nature and supported World Vision (a Colombian child support group). Family gatherings allowed her to share her love with her family. Librada had a strong Catholic background and always helped people in need.
Librada is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Survivors include sons: Julio Ramirez of Carlsbad, and Socorro Ramirez of Ojinaga, Mexico; daughters: Celia Ramirez of Ojinaga, Mexico, Adelfa Ramirez-Luis of Odessa, Texas, and Maria Subia and Aida Ramirez-Cano of Carlsbad; 23 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
