I had an enormous crush on Michael Nader as a teenager. He was the epitome of the Tall, Dark, Handsome look I loved, often playing dark or brooding characters. So I was surprised to learn he was starring in "Greater Tuna", a comedy, directed by a friend of mine at the Ojai Art Center Theater. Michael's performance was a revelation. The play is about a fictional town in Texas called Greater Tuna, and the two actors in it play a variety of characters. There was Michael onstage, playing men, women and little boys. I met him afterwards, and we became friends. The real Mike was down-to-earth, loved fishing, surfing, and long walks with his dog. Ojai is a world away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, and he was right at home. We worked together in A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Ojai Shakespeare Festival; I was Hippolyta, and Mike played Bottom. He stole every scene he was in. He told me that he LOVED doing comedy, but Hollywood never thought "Michael Nader = comedy", so he jumped at the chance to do comedy. During our long conversations in Rehearsal, I found him to be extremely bright, very knowledgeable (if cynical) about Hollywood, with a lot of insight and advice about acting and the Business. He didn't take stardom seriously at all, and was always kind and gracious to his fans, even when they interrupted us at dinner. I enjoyed his company, and cherished our friendship. We kept in touch when he moved away from Ojai, at least for awhile. I grieved when I heard that he died, quite suddenly, of Cancer. I still miss Michael, and wish we had spent more time together.

My condolences to the family. Michael was a wonderful actor. I enjoyed watching him in everything he was in. In fact I had a crush on him. He had such a beautiful voice and a very confident and macho way about him which I admired. Rest in peace Michael and may God bless and comfort your family.

To fans of the Frankie & Annette Beach Party movies, MIKE NADER will be fondly remembered (along with his friend Ed Garner) as the buff-est and macho-est of the 'beach party gang'. That boisterous group of surfer guys and bikini-clad chicks who were forever twistin' and jerkin' behind Franke & Annette. Director William Asher always gave the dialogue to Mike Nader whenever one of the beach boys needed to speak. Mike was in them all: Beach Party; Muscle Beach Party; Bikini Beach; Beach Blanket Bingo and How To Stuff A Wild Bikini. RIP surfer dude.

I’ve always enjoyed Michael’s work. I first remember seeing him on “DYNASTY”. But now looking back, it may have been on those “60’s Beach Films” when I actually first saw him. He was always given more lines and more to do in those films than some of the other Actors. He was wonderful. He appeared in several of those. And he was also on “GIDGET” which starred Sally Fields. I didn’t catch him on “All My Children”. But I did see him in a Movie which Starred He and Susan Lucci, a Perry Mason Movie, and “Lucky Chances”. Michael did a great job entertaining his Fans. MAY HE REST IN PEACE WITH THE LORD.
