Vivian Putman, 90, of Halagueno Street, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at home with her family by her side. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Carlsbad Cemetery. The Rev. Rae Miller, of Hope Family Church of God in Roswell, N.M., will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today (Jan. 3) and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at West Funeral Home. Vivian Hill Putman was born in Hammon, Okla., to Vela and Hilda (Welch) Hill on June 11, 1922. She lived in Artesia before moving to Carlsbad at age 9.
Vivian and George O. Putman were married in Carlsbad on Feb. 1, 1950. She was self-employed as a seamstress from a very early age. Flower gardening always brought her great joy.
She attended Fox and Walnut Church of God.
She is preceded in death by her husband; son, Richard E. Pettitt Sr.; grandson, Richard E. Pettitt Jr.; and great-great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Magby.
Vivian is survived by daughters: Ramona Gadbury of Carlsbad and Tracy Wade of Weatherford, Okla.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Wade, Mike Gadbury, David Gadbury, Jesstin Gadbury, Dennis Brockman and Brad Magby.
