My uncle Wille z'l meant the world to me and was one of the kindest, silliest, most gentle people one might be lucky enough to meet. When we spoke it often felt like we were gonzo journalists, co-conspirators against the world. He was the epitome of magical realism in action.
His memory will always be a blessing.

Wille and I worked together for around 17 years and became good friends. His sense of humor was extraordinary and he had a huge heart. He also was a very hard worker. When I had the opportunity to go on my first training trip ever - Wille called his friends in San Diego and had them meet me and take me to dinner while there. Over the years there were many kindnesses and practical jokes and laughter. I can’t imagine what his closest family and friends are going through now - saying goodbye to this “Renaissance Man”, but I am praying for you all. Here is a little poem I wrote for Wille.
The world is smaller todayI can feel it since you went away
The sunlight doesn’t seem as bright
The moon’s not shining in the middle of the nightThe world is smaller todayA little less colorful-a little more gray
I heard your laugh it seems a moment ago
But the moment slipped by before I knew it so
And I’m still waiting to hear your next story
Bout random happenings and the hope for glory
About getting small and being larger than life
I’m missing you..and the afterlife
The world is smaller today
Your smile it seems has gone astray
And I can only miss you now
I’ll love you always anyhow
