Chase Christen Obituary

Chase Christen, 40, of Broken Bow, Neb., passed away at Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, due to an accident while helping neighbors move cattle to safety ahead of a large grass fire near Broken Bow.

Chase Wayne Christen was born July 9, 1984, the eldest of three, at Broken Bow, to David and Evelyn (Hardy) Christen.

Chase was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow.

He attended Round Valley School until the sixth grade, where he then attended Broken Bow Public Schools and graduated in 2003. Chase was an active member in FFA and 4-H where he participated in everything available to him. He pursued higher education at NCTA while living in North Platte.

He worked at Orschelns and the Walmart distribution center where he met Amber, the mother to his three children - Bailey, Hayden and Cordale. They were married April 14, 2007, after moving to Broken Bow in 2006.

Chase then worked at Trotters in Broken Bow and has been employed by BD for 12 years. His true love was returning home to work on the family farm and raise his own Red Angus. He took over as leader of the Sandhill Critters 4-H club.

There was no greater joy to him than being a dad and nothing came before that. He loved to host football parties, New Year's Eve parties and summer BBQs. His favorite day of the year was his annual branding day.

Chase was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Wayne and Bette (Lewis) Hardy; paternal grandparents Eddie "Fritz" and Jean (Johnson) (Davis) Christen; Aunt Cris; and many others who he cherished in his life.

Chase is survived by his children Bailey, Hayden and Cordale; significant other Erika Woods and her children Tristan, Kaedon, Zoey and Harper; parents Dave and Evelyn Christen of Broken Bow; two sisters Shanda (Brett) Blank of Axtell and Kelsey (John) Kuchar of Firth; nieces and nephews Brooke Slangal, Leanne Ellingson, Kailee Blank, Asher Kuchar and Brynn Kuchar; and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
