David White Obituary
David Lew White, husband, father, friend, pastor, printer, roofer and "wearer of pants," passed into eternity Jan. 5, 2025.
Born to Edwin and Dorothy White on Oct. 21, 1953, David entered life as the son of a preacher. At a young age, he recognized his need for Jesus Christ. He grew in his faith which led him into ministry. Having run his race to completion, David has now relocated to his heavenly home that his Savior prepared for him.
Graduating with honors with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Church Music and Music Education from Bob Jones University, his ministries ranged from the Denver metro area to Nebraska Sandhills including Landrum Baptist Church in Greenville, S.C., while a student at Bob Jones University; Baptist Church in Kenai, Alaska; Beth Eden Baptist Church in Denver, Colo.; South Sheridan Baptist Church and Silver State Baptist School in Lakewood, Colo., where he served as the printer of the Little Patriot curriculum series and as an early Christian school advocate and lobbyist, testifying in Washington, D.C.; Fort Lupton Baptist Church in Colorado; Fowler Baptist Church in Colorado as senior pastor; Ordway Baptist Church and School in Colorado as administrator and choir director, including multiple regional choir tours; Prairie Baptist Church in Brewster, senior pastor; and Sandhills Bible Church, Sargent, founding pastor.
David also worked as pressman at the Custer County Chief since 1997.
He worked faithfully as a father, grandfather, husband and pastor until the day of his death. Having completed his ministry as founder and pastor of Sandhills Bible Church, David entered his rest with family and loved ones who preceded him.
He was preceded to glory by his parents Edwin White and Dorothy (Blaylock) (White) Iverson; oldest brother Micky White; beloved wife of 43 years Debra (Williamson) White; and granddaughter Elodie Jean White.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 57 months Phyllis Heath White of Broken Bow; dear siblings Patty (Larry) Wells, Larry (Lorrie) White, Becky (Ray) Pollock and Snow White, all of Denver, Colo.; beloved children Isaac D. (Amy) White of Greenville, S.C., Rachel (Alvin) Fama of Broken Bow, Joshua White of Ridgway, Colo.; Hannah (Richard) Wang of Golden, Colo.; Elijah White of Denver, Colo.; Naomi White of Littleton, Colo.; Lydia (Nathan) Burns of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; Abraham (Emily) White of Lakewood, Colo.; Nehemiah (Nancy) White of Mount Pleasant, Wisc.; Abigail (Mike) Bitz of Boiling Springs, S.C.; Noah (Catherine) White of Spartanburg, S.C.; Esther White of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Gideon (Flavia) White of Goose Creek, S.C.; and Stephen (Esther) White of Denver, S.C.; beloved grandchildren Jena, Grace (Levi) Hamilton, Jedediah and Evan White, AnnaBeth, Julia, Adrian, Adeline and Alivia Fama, Maddie Wang, Avi White, Avery and Archer Burns, Emma, Huck, Amelia, and Gabby White, Jasmin, Edward, Timothy and Elizabeth White, Kinsey, Kera and Jacob Bitz, Celeste and Nayeli White, Max and Julieta White and William White; stepfamily Justin (Janelle) Heath of Springfield, Mo., Vanessa (Todd) Avera of Thailand, Andrew (Sarah Gehlhar) Heath of St. Louis, Mo., Gabrielle (Andy) Rickley of Omaha and Nicholas (Noemi) Heath of Marshalltown, Iowa, and their children.
David will be remembered by family and friends Sunday, Jan. 19, at the Community Center on Main St. in Sargent. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Sargent.
