Sergei Sikorsky Obituary
Sun City West, Arizona.
"Weep not that I'm gone, be glad I was."
Sergei I. Sikorsky, eldest son of aviation pioneer Igor I. Sikorsky and Elizabeth A. Sikorsky, passed away on September 18, 2025, at his home, in Arizona, after a short illness. Born In New York City on January 31, 1925, Sergei grew up in Connecticut and started working at Sikorsky Aircraft for his engineer father at the age of 16 while finishing high school at night. He was drafted into the U.S. Coast Guard in 1943 and served at Coast Guard Air Station Floyd Bennett Field, N.Y., until the spring of 1946. Sergei was involved in the development of the first helicopter hoist under the leadership of Commander Frank Erickson.
After WWII, Sergei studied at the University of Fine Arts, in Florence, Italy. He returned to the United States in 1951 and started his career with then-United Aircraft Corporation, which later became United Technologies Corp. For the following 24 years, he wore many hats, from helicopter salesman to diplomatic interpreter. Sergei traveled the world for Sikorsky Aircraft. He lived in Germany, France and Japan, while working on various assignments and was extremely proud of his role in CH-53 helicopter production in Germany. Sergei returned to Sikorsky Aircraft headquarters in 1975 and continued marketing helicopters around the world. He retired in 1992 as Vice President - Special Projects and spent the following 31 years consulting and being an ambassador for Sikorsky Aircraft. Sergei was preceded in death by his son, Sergei Jr., his half-sister, Tanya, and his brothers, George and Nickolai. He is survived by his wife, Elena, brother, Igor Jr., "brother", Dan Libertino and his wife Linda, sister-in-law, Yvette, cousin, Dr. Nicholas Viner, nephew, Igor Sikorsky III, and nieces, Kate and Anna Sikorsky and Lisa Winters. Sergei's funeral will be private, and Adzima Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements. Contributions may be made in Sergei's memory to: The Igor I. my mother, at the time, Annamae McNally was the 136th employee at Sikorsky. she was a secretary in the engineering department, working for one of Igor's managers. She had dialy interactions with him and used to talk about what a nice man he was and he knew everyone's name. i know this is about his son, but what a legacy has been handed down. Rest in peace, ma, Igor and Sergei.

My entire adult life I have worked and retired from Sikorsky Aircraft. Because of the life of Igor and his son Sergei it molded me to be the person I am. I send my deepest sympathies to Sergei´s family. What a wonderful person he was. God bless.
