Edwin Staab Obituary

Edwin "Ed" Roy Staab of Clarksville, Tenn. and formerly of Ansley, Neb., died Aug. 7, 2022.

Ed was born Jan. 26, 1931 to Reuben "Dutch" and Opal (Bennett) Staab. He attend Happy Hollow rural school through eighth grade, continuing on and graduating Ansley High School.

He attended Kearney State College, becoming a pitcher for the Loper baseball team. After college, he joined the military for two years.

He married Darlene Maret of Gibbon. To this union two sons, Greg and Mark, were born.

Ed began his coaching career at Ainsworth, later moving to Ogallala and then to LaQuinta High School in Garden Grove, Calif.

Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife Darlene; brothers Bernard, Max and John; and step-son David Hirt.

He leaves to mourn his passing wife Roberta Gardner Hirt Staab; sons Greg (Deb) and Mark (Susan); grandchildren Emmaline and Claire; siblings Harry (Jo) of Kearney, Della (Dick) Gehrt of Elm Creek, Rollie (Gloria) of Ord, Larry (Priscilla) of Indiana and Phyllis Samp of Ansley; four step-children; ten step-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life for Ed will be Monday, Oct. 10, 1-3 p.m. at Kearney Harmon Park, Sycamore Room. Burial will be at the Ansley cemetery.
