Jack Ray Steinbach, 78, of Sargent, Neb. passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society – St. John's in Kearney.
Jack, son of Lloyd and Verna (Glidden) Steinbach, was born at home Dec. 6, 1946, in St. Edward.
He attended St. Edward High School and graduated with the class of 1965.
Jack was united in marriage to Bertha White in Columbus. The couple later divorced. On March 20, 1970, he married Emily Wisnieski, and they later divorced as well. Jack was later married to Marsha Poole from 1998 to 2001.
Throughout his life, Jack was a hardworking man who took great pride in his craft. He owned and operated his own masonry business, earning a reputation for his strong work ethic and skill.
Jack also honorably served his country in the United States military from March 1, 1969, until March 1, 1972. He took great pride in his service and was an active member of his local VFW.
Jack enjoyed the simple pleasures in life - hunting, fishing, cheering on Nebraska football and taking walks with his loyal dog.
He also gave his time to help with groundskeeping at the cemetery in Sargent, and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.
Those left to cherish Jack's memory are his four daughters - Tammie (Sheldon) Weeks of Kingman, Ariz., Pamela (Bill) Coggins of Nampa, Idaho, Sandy (Randy) Dennis of Omaha, Neb., Michelle Steinbach of LaVista, Neb.; four brothers - Jake Steinbach of Newman Grove, Floyd Steinbach of Central City, Jim Steinbach of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Dave (Mary Sue) Steinbach of Logan, Iowa; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Shirley Ann; sisters Helen Volkmer and Hilda (Robert) Johnson; brothers Clarence (Hannah) Steinbach and Francis (Lynn) Steinbach; three sisters-in-law - Janet Steinbach, Tina Steinbach and Mary Steinbach.
Graveside Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Mick Goc officiating.
Military rites were conducted by the Army Funeral Honor Guard, Crosier American Legion Post #226 of St. Edward, American Legion Post #104 of Sargent and the American Legion Riders.
