Sheryl Diane (Brush) Dockweiler, 75, of Eddyville, Neb., entered her heavenly home on Oct. 24, 2024, following a courageous journey with ALS.
Sheryl was born Aug. 19, 1949, in Curtis to Myron and Marguerite "Maggie" Brush. She grew up on a farm, attending a one room schoolhouse until attending high school in Curtis.
In March 1967, Sheryl married Gerald Lashley, and together they established their family farm near Eddyville, where she welcomed her children, Bobbi, Shannon, James and her infant son Shane (stillborn). Sheryl remarried on June 5, 1987, to Darrel Dockweiler, expanding her family to include five stepchildren, completing a large family that she treasured.
Sheryl found joy in country life, especially in gardening, holiday gatherings and sharing time with family and friends. A devoted mother and grandmother, she took great interest in the lives of her children and grandchildren, cheering them on in music, sports and horse shows.
Her faith was her foundation, and she served her church and community through her gift for administration, organizing church events and teaching Sunday school. As ALS progressed, Sheryl's faith only deepened, and her role as a prayer warrior became central to her life. Her greatest wish was for her family and all those she loved to know the Lord, and she found strength and solace in prayer, lifting others up daily. She felt Jesus' presence as He gave her the strength and peace for each day.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her infant son, Shane; and her parents Myron and Marguerite Brush.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years Darrel Dockweiler; children Bobbi Rose of Curtis, Shannon (Brian) Vogler of Firth and James (Joelene) Lashley of Hay Springs; and stepchildren Connie (Doug) Graham of Lincoln, Rocky (Karen) Dockweiler of Oconto, John (Ann) Dockweiler of Chadron, Teri (Jay) Young of Kearney and Shari (Chris) Mendoza of Kearney; cherished grandchildren Joshua Rader, Tayler (Kelly) Tidyman, Kylie Rose, Bailey and Jadin Vogler, Jarod and Marcus O'Horo, Tre and Shayna Young, Cole Dockweiler, Garrett (Kindra) Dockweiler, Shayla (Jake) Geil and Isaiah Mendoza; great-grandchildren Jaxson Sipes, Grayson and Hayden Soper, Isabelle O'Horo, GraceLyn Keller, MiCayla Rader, Kolt and Kora Tidyman, Gunner and Dutton Dockweiler and Maisy Geil.
Sheryl's legacy of faith, love, and compassion will live on through the lives she touched.
