Viola Schroeder Obituary

Viola Darlene (Brandt) Schroeder, 72, of Minden, Neb., died in her home surrounded by loved ones Oct. 1, 2024.

She was born to David and Wilma (Jochem) Brandt Oct. 10, 1951, in Lexington.

At the age of 10, she moved with her family to their farm north of Cumro where she was raised. She graduated from Ansley High School Class of 1969 and moved to Kearney.

In 1978, she married Dale Schroeder. They were blessed with five children - Jennifer, Jaime, Jeremie, Jodi and Jonathan.

Their life together took them to many different places, living in Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming, Arizona and South Dakota.

Viola was a farmer's wife and mother for many years and worked in home health care the majority of her working career. Most recently she and Dale drove a semi-truck all over the country. Upon retirement, they moved to Minden.

Viola loved the mountains, the outdoors and fishing. She and Dale enjoyed riding their motorcycle to new places. She loved to travel and photography and had an adventurous spirit.

Viola was known to be a strong-willed woman who'd make you toe the line, but she also had the sweetest heart.

She adored all of her 16 grandchildren. Days before passing, she was able to meet her newest six-week-old grandson for the first time.

She was a member of Gibbon Baptist Church where she attended weekly and was involved in vacation Bible school and AWANA until her health declined. She made many wonderful friends there.

Viola was preceded in death by her father David R. Brandt; mother Wilma Brandt; brother Ronnie Brandt; sister-in-law Beth Brandt; and infant great-nephew Avery Peasley.

Survivors include her husband Dale Schroeder; children Jennifer (Gary) Voichoski of Riverdale, Jaime (Rob) Jaeger of Kenesaw, Jeremie (Melissa) Schroeder of Ravenna, Jodi (Chris) Petersen of Kodiak, Alaska, and Jonathan (Ralonda) Schroeder of Rapid City, S.D.; grandchildren Trenton, Jorie and Larisa Voichoski, Leah Jaeger, Laine, Norah and Kennah Schroeder, Nickoli, Kendri and Brylee Petersen and McKenna, Oliva, Emmaline, Weston, Stetsyn and Waylen Schroeder; siblings Luella (Donnie) Barger, Lonnie (Brenda) Brandt, Tim Brandt, Ramona (Mike) McDonald, Karla (Phil) Rohde, Dixie (Monte) Scofield and Penny Ruth; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and wonderful friends.

Funeral services are Friday, Oct. 4, at 10 a.m. at the Gibbon Baptist Church in Gibbon with Reverend Taylor Shippy officiating. Burial will follow at approximately 12:30 p.m. in the Box Elder Cemetery near Cumro.

Visitation is Thursday, Oct. 3 from 4-6 p.m. at the Gibbon Baptist Church with a meal served after the visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the Gibbon Baptist Church.

Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.govierbrothers.com.
