David Dowell

David Bryant Dowell, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away on September 19, 2025 at The Heritage Inn Assisted Living & Memory Care facility. Bryant was born in Stoney Point, Virginia, on January 24, 1938. He was the son of the late Eppie & Grace Dowell. He was the youngest of 11 children. Bryant was the used car manager at Brady Bushey for 48 years. He retired in 2007. He was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church, where he was a past Deacon and choir member. Bryant was a deeply dedicated Christian and a Great person who cared for others. He loved to always joke around and make people laugh. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Bryant is survived by his wife of 21 years, Gladys V. (Napier) Dowell; his son, Philip Dowell & wife, Sue, of Scottsville, VA; stepson, Gary Napier & wife, Phyllis, of Troy, VA; stepson, David Napier & wife, Karen, of Bridgewater, VA; stepdaughter, Laurie Lynch & husband, Mike, of High Springs, FL; 6 step grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. A special thanks to his niece, Ellen, and her husband Kevin Matheny, for frequent visits and help at a critical time. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Joann Weaver Dowell, and his siblings, Oppie Dowell, Johnny Dowell, Jimmy Dowell, Warren Dowell, Jannette Davis, Mary Lou Byers, Helen Rucker, Clare Shifflette, Becky Harris, and Pauline Coleman. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am on September 29, 2025, at Mt. View Baptist Church. This will be followed by the funeral service, at the church, at 11:00 am.
