Julia Skrivan

Julia Fitz-Hugh Skrivan, 56, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away on September 6, 2025. A lifelong resident of Charlottesville, Julia was born on April 9, 1969, and graduated from Albemarle High School. She married the love of her life, Michael Skrivan, on April 17, 1999. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and compassion. Julia was known for her generous spirit and her dedication to helping others. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the SPCA, giving her time and heart to causes close to her. Her compassion extended to animals of all kinds-especially her beloved cats: Willy, Charity, Baxter, and Micah. She was also a proud fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Chicago Bears. Family was everything to Julia. She cherished every birthday, holiday, and get-together, and found great joy in celebrating life with her nieces, nephews, and extended family. Julia's legacy is one of love, resilience, and compassion. She will be missed dearly by all who were lucky enough to know her. Julia was preceded in death by her father, George Fitz-Hugh; her mother, Ellen Hurd Schuman; her mother-in-law, Gerarda Skrivan; and her special aunt, Elizabeth Morgan. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Skrivan; her brother, George Fitz-Hugh and his wife Danielle; her grandmother, Janet Hurd; her father-in-law, Frank Skrivan; her sister-in-law, Mary Anne O'Brien and her husband Gerard O'Brien; and her cherished nieces and nephews: Alex Fitz-Hugh, William Fitz-Hugh, Carrie O'Brien, Joseph O'Brien, and Mercedes Anderson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Julia's memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.mda.org/ways-to-give. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 14 at 2:00pm at St. Paul's Memorial Church, 1701 University Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22903. After the service, the family will receive friends at Michael's home. A graveside service will be held at Monticello Memory Gardens at a later date.
