Justine Joscelyne Obituary
Justine Mary Joscelyne, 76, of Keswick, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2025. She was born on March 19, 1949, in England, the daughter of Marjorie and Eric Chambers. She is survived by her sons, Mark (Karen) and David (Krystal); her brother, Paul; her sister, Sheila; four cherished grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Daisy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Trevor Joscelyne.
Justine Chambers grew up in Handforth, Cheshire, England, and attended Bangor University in Wales where she majored in French and played on the school's table tennis team. She met Trevor Joscelyne during her time at university, although they attended different schools. She fondly recalled that he was the boy who "lived in the nice house she walked past every day on the way to school." As part of her Honors Course she spent her third year in France. Trevor would visit her there, and on one occasion they went skiing, resulting in a broken leg for Justine. They married in 1971 and, after some time in Handforth, moved to Birmingham where Trevor worked for Cadburys. The next move was to Hampshire and finally they settled in the small village of Langham, close to Trevor's new job at Pedigree Petfoods (a division of Mars, Inc). After 10 years in Langham, Trevor had the opportunity for a temporary assignment in Los Angeles and they embraced the opportunity and relocated, with their two young boys, to Yorba Linda, CA, in 1987. When that assignment came to an end, Trevor was offered a permanent job with the M&M's candy division so the family traveled across the country to Randolph, NJ, and began the process of becoming US citizens. In Randolph, Justine fell in love with tennis and golf, playing both as often as possible, and also began playing competitive bridge on a regular basis -- pursuits she continued to enjoy until her passing. Both of Justine's sons attended Virginia Tech for Computer Engineering and stayed in Virginia after graduation. After retirement, Justine and Trevor wanted to settle somewhere that was closer to family and allowed them to play golf every day. They discovered Glenmore and moved into their new home in 2004.
For the past 21 years, Justine was a devoted member of the Glenmore community, where she built deep friendships and contributed to the vibrant life of the neighborhood through numerous club activities and functions. She was an avid golfer, a passionate bridge player, and a spirited pickleball enthusiast, always bringing warmth, humor, and generosity to every gathering. Justine also loved to travel, always with the companionship of family or neighbors. In recent years she traveled widely to places including Peru, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Ireland, Switzerland, and many destinations across Europe, often enjoying river cruises with close friends. She also had a passion for dogs, competing in dog shows and raising service dog puppies, and always having one or two Golden Retrievers or Labradors in the house at all times. Justine could often be seen walking her dog Leo or, more recently, Daisy, around the park near her house. She was a proud supporter of Service Dogs of Virginia and provided ongoing support to the organization through donations that helped foster guide dog puppies.
Justine's life will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, neighbors, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family extends their sincere appreciation to the members of Albemarle County Fire Rescue and supporting teams for their exceptional professionalism, dedication, and compassion during this time.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at The Club at Glenmore on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friends, family, neighbors, and members of the Glenmore community are warmly invited to gather and share memories.
