Robert Fillmore

Bob (Robert) D. Fillmore, 83, of Crozet, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, with his family by his side. Born on September 5, 1941, in Stamford, Connecticut, Bob was the son of Leslie and Nada Fillmore. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1959, where he met his wife, Carol. Together, they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Their marriage was built on love, laughter, and the kind of partnership that set an example for everyone who knew them. Bob went on to earn a degree in architectural drafting from Dean College in 1962. Following in his family's footsteps, he carried on the tradition of homebuilding as a second-generation builder. Over the years, Fillmore Builders, Inc. designed and built many custom homes, each one a reflection of his dedication, craftsmanship, and love for the work. He grew up with a strong work ethic, a loving heart, and a deep commitment to family. When he wasn't building homes or spending time with loved ones, he pursued his passion for classic cars. His prized turquoise 1957 Chevrolet 3100 pickup was his pride and joy. Whether cruising through town or showcasing it at AACA car shows, often returning home with a trophy. Bob's truck was a perfect reflection of his love of detail and his classic style. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Carol, and their three children: Kristin (Gary) Carter, Brooke (Greg) Herndon, and Rob (Kimberly) Fillmore Jr. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Hannah (Chris) Castor and Heather (Wyatt) Murray. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, "GrandBob," father-in-law, mentor, and friend. Bob lived with passion and purpose, and his legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the homes he built, and the countless lives he touched. Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Virginia. In honoring Bob's wishes, no service will be held.
