William Roberts Obituary
Bill was born on Aug. 1, 1946, to the late Clifford A. and Evelyn Hefner Roberts in Chattanooga, Tenn. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his only brother, Clifford E. Roberts of Albertville, Ala.
After graduating from Chattanooga High School in 1964, he went on to study Industrial Engineering at Tennessee Tech University graduating in 1969. He was a Lieutenant with the United States Army Reserves.
While pursuing his master's in engineering, at the University of Tennessee, Bill met the love of his life, Artura Jill Neely, a nursing student at Fort Sanders, on a blind date. They soon married on Jan. 17, 1972 and were married for 49 years. Together they built a wonderful life and had three wonderful children.
Bill is survived by his wife, Artura Jill Neely Roberts; two sons, William (Angie) Augustus Roberts Jr., Troy (Meghan) Cole Roberts; one daughter, Carrie (Doug) Nicole Power; six grandchildren, Shelby Nicole Roberts, Dray Douglas Roberts, Chandler Cole Power, Corbin Augustus Power, Cameron Silas Power and Adayln Olivia Roberts.
Bill was a member and deacon of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He worked 35 years as a process engineer for 3M in Cynthiana, Ky. before retiring.
The family of Bill Roberts wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the incredible nurses of Hospice, AD and Julie, Dr. Stephen Besson, Pastor Mike Bowen, church family and countless friends and family.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at Ware Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at Ware Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Downs, Jerry Wagner, Dwayne Jenkins, George Ring, Kelly Hehr, Stan Johnson, Acey Terhune, and Doug Giles.
