Arthur Byro Obituary

Arthur "Art" Byro
Born: October 17, 1931
Died: June 21, 2025
Arthur "Art" Byro, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Born on October 17, 1931, to Arthur Sr. and Merle Byro, Art grew up in Malta, Illinois, and graduated from Malta High School in 1950. On June 3, 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, Janice Jordal.
Art proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Afterward, as members of the Malta Congregational Church, he and Janice farmed in Malta, raising their four children-Randy, Lisa, Michael, and Michele-before relocating to Winthrop, Minnesota, where they continued their life on the farm. When not farming, Art could often be found golfing, watching golf, or traveling. In 2019, he achieved a lifelong dream by scoring a hole-in-one. Art spent many years splitting time between Minnesota and Florida, eventually settling full-time in The Villages, Florida. He and Janice shared nearly 70 years of marriage before her passing.
His death preceded by his wife Janice, son Michael, sister Niomi, & parents Arthur Sr. and Merle Byro.
Survived by his children Randy Byro (LeAnn), Lisa Huseby (Randi), and Michele Bogatzke (Marty) along with 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service honoring both Art and Janice Byro will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the Malta Cemetery officiated by Rev. Jeremiah Thompson. Service followed by a luncheon at the United Methodist Church in Malta, Illinois.
