CLARENCE FLOIT Obituary

DeKALB – Clarence Everett Floit, 90, lifelong resident of DeKalb County, died on Monday evening, Sept. 9, 2013, at Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center in DeKalb.
Born Aug. 6, 1923, in Sycamore, he married Esther Viola Johnson on Sept. 16, 1950, and they had five sons, all of whom survive him: Randall of Sycamore, Steve of Anaheim, Calif., Dan of San Diego, Calif., Miles of Thailand, and Curtis (Lynne) of Solana Beach, Calif. Clarence also had five grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Adams, Jonathan, Amy, Alyssa and Jackson; and two great-grandchildren, Caiden and Calli. He also is survived by sister-in-law, Helen Floit of Aurora; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, and parents, George (Jerker Flojt) and Freda (Person) Floit, all born in Sweden. He also was preceded by all his siblings: brothers, Roy, Harold and Philip Floit, and sisters, Vera Schlagle and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Stark.
Clarence was a farm real estate broker at Midwest Real Estate of Genoa. He also was an auctioneer with Rex Nelson of Kingston for 20 years. In his early years he was a Sycamore area farmer and worked with his brothers at Floit Sand and Gravel of Sycamore.
An avid bowler, he bowled under the name "Clancy" in multiple leagues from DeKalb to Rockford. He was a huge Chicago Cubs fan and always had great hopes for "next year." Clarence will be truly missed by the many friends he had made throughout his life.
The family would like to especially thank longtime friend, Lillian Rusin of Midwest Real Estate, at his bedside to the end, for her devotion and support during his final years. They also would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers and friends at Oak Crest, who, for many years, always brought a smile to Clarence's face. The family is very grateful for their professionalism, kindness and friendship.
A family visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Olson Funeral Homes, Quiram Sycamore Chapel, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178.

Miles, I was very sad to see the notice in the window at Oakcrest. Your dad was a very sweet guy. I'm glad you were able to spend some time with him when you were home this summer. You and your brothers are in my thoughts and prayers. Deirdre Feeney Mihm

Clancy added positive value to our lives. Even though I only knew him from bowling, he always treated me like a lifelong friend. His positive attitude, warm smile, and kindness to all are examples for us all to strive for. Thank you Clancy for these gifts. GO CUBS!!

I am so sorry for your loss!! I bowled with Clancy for many years at Mardi Gras. Every time I walked in the door, his smiling face was the first one I saw!! He was always fun to be around and never seemed to get discouraged like the rest of us when he had a bad game. Im sorry I dont know anyone else in the family, but I thought I should at least leave a note to let you alll know how much I admired and respected him!! Im so glad I was able to call him friend!!! He will be missed very much!!!!

I remember at Mardi Gras one Tuesday night you came over and asked me if I was Emmett Westlake's son. You told me that you and my Dad used to swim at the old 'pit'. Great childhood memories... Rest in peace, my friend.
