CODY EADEN Obituary

Cody James Eaden, 12, of Kingston, Ill., died Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at home.
Born Sept. 28, 1998, in Hoffman Estates, the son of Jeff and Shannon (Newborn) Eaden, Cody was a sixth-grader at Genoa-Kingston Middle School, where he was a member of the Chess and Tech clubs.
Cody was a fun-loving, kind-hearted boy. He was very kind and helpful to his family, his teachers and his many friends. He loved to golf, play chess, listen to music, and most of all, he enjoyed astronomy and star-gazing. He truly will be the "newest and brightest star in the sky," family says.
Cody is survived by his parents, Jeff and Shannon Eaden; three brothers, Jeff, Wayne and Ryan; his paternal grandmother, Aneilia Eaden; his maternal grandparents, James and Kim Newborn; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his "best buddy," his dog, Sammie Jo.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Eaden; one sister, Mary Jo; and one uncle, James Eaden.
A memorial service will be from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, at his home, 501 E. Fourth St., Kingston, for his family and many dear friends.
Memorials can be made to his family in care of Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main, Genoa, IL 60135; www.ButalaFuneralHomes.com or 815-784-5191.

Cody was such a great boy. I was honored to be his art teacher at Oakhill School. He smiled all the time and his happiness was contagious. I remember when he told me he was moving, I told him, "Nope. You can't move. I like having you here too much." He just always brightened my day. He is missed tremendously by all who knew him. We love you Cody. God be with your family.

Dear Eaden family,
I just wanted to share my sadness in learning of Cody's death, too young...But especially to share my joy in having known him a little as his visual art teacher at GKMS.
Cody was a wonderful young man! He had such a colorful personality and a happy confidence that made his character unique.
I wanted to tell you about what happened on "Wear Orange for Cody Day". As I donned my orange top for the day, I decided against my orange bead earrings in favor of some rainbow ones...I thought to myself that Cody had such a rainbow of colors to his personality that it was more fitting. When I arrived at school that morning, we were greeted by the most spectacular rainbow out in front of the school...It took my breath away and made me feel that Cody's positive energy had manifested in that beautiful natural expression...Thanks, Cody!

May your love and memories sustain you. Thank you for such a terrific boy.
Mrs. Julie Sorensen, GKMS Visual Art

Cody, your smile is what I remember so clearly. In Kindergarten I sat with you as you practiced your reading and I was stunned at how smart you already were and how well you could read. I remember your Sponge Bob lunch box and your easy going personality. Watching you walk in Halloween parades through the halls of Oakhill with your buddy Jessie. Kayla and all of your former classmates were so sad to hear you left us already! God must have needed you so he called you home early. Be at peach Cody. There is no doubt in my mind that you have your Angel whings already!!! You will be missed by us all.

Many prayers and our deepest sympathy to your family. There are just no words to express how badly we feel for your loss. May God bring you strength and comfort.

Since Cody so loved space, he was like a SuperNova in the sky. Shining brighter than anything around him and then disappearing just as quickly as he arrived. Permanently searing his image into our minds. Forever leaving an indelible mark in our hearts. Love, Aunt Judi
