Donald Weberpal Obituary

Donald A. Weberpal
1931-2025
Donald A. Weberpal, 94, passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Don's life was one marked by hard work, and unwavering love for his family and the land he farmed.
Born and raised on the farm in Hampshire, he and his siblings ran the farm when their dad passed away, which started Don's lifelong passion for agriculture. He was a member of 4-H and FFA, learning responsibility, and stewardship which he passed down to his family. Don proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in Leadville, Colorado and returned to Illinois to pursue his calling as a farmer and raise a family grounded in love and tradition.
Growing up during the Depression, he learned the value of hard work and financial responsibility, and instilled this in his children. He enjoyed giving his grandchildren rides in his golf cart, playing pinochle, Cubs baseball, and making friends with people buying pumpkins and delicious sweet corn at his farmstand.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Maurine (Burnell) Weberpal, with whom he shared a life rich in love and partnership. He was proud of his 5 children, 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. His five children include, Susan Englert (1956-2024) (Ken Englert) and their children Anna (Englert) Anderson, Daniel Englert, Ruth (Englert) Guiliano, David Englert, Sarah (Englert) Wilson, and Mark Englert; Cindi Pratt and her two daughters, Hannah Pratt and Gracie Pratt; John C. Weberpal (Valerie Weberpal) and their children Hellen Habshey, Francie McLean, and Henry Weberpal; Anna Weberg (Robert Weberg) and their son Everett Weberg; Lynn Works (Tim Works) and their children Owen Works, Kelsey Works, and Katherine Works.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Rose Schlick and Adam Weberpal; his brothers, James and Raymond; his sisters, Ruth and Irene; beloved daughter, Susan Englert and granddaughter Margaret Weberpal.
Family and friends are welcome to join together for a celebration of life on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. at 16521 Swanson Rd. A private family service was held on June 4, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Voluntary Action Center at https://vacdk.com/. Voluntary Action Center provides transport (TransVAC) and meals (Meals on Wheels).
