Died: October 26, 2025 in Sycamore, IL
Donna M. Petersen, 80, of Sycamore, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
She was born on November 21, 1944, in Belvidere to Leonard and Mary (Juns) Schramer and raised in Virgil and Elburn. On August 27, 1964, she married Howard Petersen, sharing over 61 years of marriage together.
Donna and Howard owned several Sycamore businesses, including Petersens Decorating Center, ServiceMaster, and Country Charm Bed and Breakfast. They later founded Chapel in the Pines, where more than 3,500 couples have been married.
Survivors include her husband, Howard; children Lori (John) O'Connor and Jeffrey Petersen; grandchildren Kellie (Cal) Wagner, Kyle O'Connor, Joseph, Rose, and James Petersen; and great-grandchildren Beckham and Maddox Wagner.
Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 9, from 1:00–4:00 PM at Chapel in the Pines, Sycamore. Funeral Mass Monday, Nov. 10th at 10 AM at the Church of Saint Mary, Sycamore. Burial at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Virgil. A luncheon will follow at the Chapel in the Pines.
