Harold E. "Andy" Anderson, 86, of Shabbona, Illinois, died Saturday, July 1, 2017, at his home.

Born April 20, 1931, in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of Harold Sr. and Mildred (Leifheit ) Anderson, Andy married Bettylou Challand on July 28, 1950, in Shabbona. Andy farmed and later was the owner and operator of Andy's Construction in Shabbona. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks. He enjoyed fishing trips to Shabbona Lake with his grandchildren, and attending all their sporting events. Andy and his wife, with whom he was inseparable, raised their children on their farm. He was a loving father, a hard worker and a friend to everyone he met. He enjoyed every visit to his favorite restaurant where he was treated like family.

He is survived by his children, Kathy (Les) Koering of Stanwood, Iowa, Ken (Vicki) Anderson of Shabbona, Lauri (Jay) Mitchell of Waterman, Ben (Michele) Anderson of Waterman; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one due in the fall; sister-in-law Helen Challand of Shabbona; his cousin, Tom Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Bettylou; his infant daughter, Karen; his parents; his brother, Richard E. Anderson; and his sister, Dolores M. Anderson.

There will be a private family service at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb at a later date.
